How can you use crowdfunding to raise funds for your society?
It’s a familiar scenario, you’re a member of your society’s committee and have exciting ideas you’d love to put into action but simply don’t have the funds. What should you do??
What exactly is crowdfunding?
Put simply, crowdfunding is the practice of raising funds by receiving donations from a large number of people.
If you want to raise funds for a specific society or sports club project, from sending your sports team to Nationals, putting on a creative production, creating a social enterprise and beyond, crowdfunding is an exciting way to bring a network together to support your idea.
How do I make this happen?
You can easily set up a campaign page on Hubbub here. We will send you crowdfunding guides to help get started and offer moderation support throughout your campaign.
Once your project page looks fabulous, it’s time to promote it! Let all your friends, family, society members know about your idea. Spread the word on social media.
The best campaigns tend to secure lots of early donations from people they know. In fact, most projects that reach the first 21% of their target, go on to reach the whole amount!
Take a look at some successful projects:
The University of Liverpool’s Student Theatre raised £481 towards their performance of Grease.
University of Bristol’s Korfball team have already overfunded their £500 target.
