We are delighted to welcome Aleksandra Mikolajczyk to Team Hubbub as our new Customer Service Engineer. 🎉
We’ve asked her a few questions to learn more about her, from her role and experience to her favourite food and the superpower she’d most like to have!
Getting to know Aleksandra
What made you join Hubbub?
I wanted to work somewhere with a supportive and patient team, on a product I believe in, with clients that make a difference. It was a simple decision, really!
What are you currently working on?
This is where things get exciting! On any given day, I will work on a real hotchpotch of tasks – some predetermined as part of our sprint, some requested by clients (like adjusting the pledge process or updating imagery) and some urgent bugs that need fixing. Every day is different, but it’s always rewarding.
What are your three proudest achievements?
1 – Leaping headfirst into a career in web development. I quit my job, enrolled in a full-time course and worked really really hard to become a web developer. It was a really intense four months of classes and projects, but from the friends that I made to the projects that I produced – not to mention ending things on a high with this very job – it was one of the smartest risks I’ve ever taken.
2 – One summer, I worked as a server in a buzzy restaurant that had just opened in London. One lunch service, I served a famous London food critic, who we all knew was there. I guess I must have been too eager to please, because in her published review of the place in a major British newspaper, she called me out on asking if everything was alright too many times. I consider this a great accomplishment as not only was I mentioned in a major newspaper but, in a country where service is usually okay at best (sorry!), I got called out for being too good.
3 – Moving to London on my own at 23 years old, without a job, home or any friends or family to help me out. While the first few weeks were difficult, looking back four years later, I’m really proud of how I made it work.
What do you love most about working at Hubbub?
The team – a really great, funny group of people that make coming to work every day a real pleasure. Also, knowing that my work is helping the ‘greater good’ makes my job extra satisfying.
Describe yourself in three words.
Outgoing, friendly, strange.
If you could have a superpower, what would you choose and why?
I would love to be able to call a force field around myself and whoever I’m walking with that prevents people from walking too close around me. One of my biggest pet peeves is slow walkers, people who don’t look where they’re walking and either weave in and out or end up walking right into you, and other such uncivilised behaviour on the sidewalks.
Is there one food you could eat every day?
Pizza, pizza, pizza. In fact, for a few years I did eat it almost every day when I worked as a server in a pizza restaurant. Highly versatile, there’ll always be a flavour that will satisfy me.
What would you like to be famous for?
I love music videos and I’d love to be a music video presenter.
